Sudeley Castle Cottages

Quaint Cotswold cottages with a dash of history

The Sudeley Castle Estate includes 17 charming Cotswold holiday properties, all a few minutes’ walk from the centre of historic Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle & Gardens. Ranging from beautifully renovated ancient buildings, including a paper mill, an old forge and 18th-century workers’ cottages, to new cottages built in distinctive Cotswold stone, the Sudeley Castle Cottages are perfect for groups of three to 14 guests. All the properties have been carefully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished, some with additions from Lady Ashcombe’s own collection, and all save for two apartment cottages, have access to individual gardens, patios or courtyards.

Sudeley Castle itself features 10 magnificent gardens, each with its own unique design. Surrounded by striking views of the Cotswold countryside, each garden reflects the fascinating 1000-year history of the Castle and include a Knot Garden, Queen’s Garden and Tudor Physic Garden. Sudeley Castle remains the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds – Queen Katherine Parr, the last and surviving wife of Henry VIII who lived and died in the castle and is buried at St Mary’s Church at the centre of the Estate.

There’s something for everyone at Sudeley, including a fantastic adventure playground and inspired seasonal events, such as the Spectacle of Light in December where the romantic ruins and glorious gardens are lit up during the evening, offering dazzling illuminations.

One of the great benefits of booking a Sudeley Castle Cottage is that you can visit Sudeley Castle & Gardens for free, during the open season, as many times as you would like during your stay. However, seasonal events must be booked and paid for directly with Sudeley Castle. Make sure to check their opening times, too.

Sudeley Castle & Gardens will reopen for the season on 19 March 2024.
